Born into a family of travelling entertainers
in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps it soon became apparent that
Andrew Von Trapp (Later changed by Deed Pole to Throupe) was destined
for a career in the performing arts. By the age of 9 Andy had already
mastered the Alpine horn, kazoo, banjo and the much-maligned, piano
accordion.
It was his wizardry on the accordion that led
to a 32-date tour with the world famous Ompahh band Frank Chisslett
and the Bavarian Stompers . However after only 17 performances his
dream gig was to be cut short due to a severe bout of lederhosen rash.
( A condition that still haunts him to this day )
Finally realising that a career involving a
leather romper suit and an instrument based on a pair of musical
bellows was not to be, Andy had little choice but to pursue other
avenues.
Having long since swapped accordion for the
electric guitar and moved to the north of England Andy still retains
his love of all things musical. When asked if the accordion could
possibly feature in the China Sky set the response is a simple but
beautifully crafted V sign
Previous forays into the music industry
included The B Team, Officer Dibble, Thundering Hearts, but to name
a few.
Andy Throupe shreds exclusively on Jaydee and
McDonough guitars, uses Line 6 amps and sings like a goose farting in
the fog through Electrovoice mics. |
